Heritage rolled into Locust Grove to face the wildcats for the season opening scrimmage. Locust Grove got the scoring going early with Auburn commit Skylar Elkins going deep to dead center to make the game 1-0. Kennedy Stephens did a great job for Heritage of limiting damage until the offense came alive in the 5th inning. Trezure Callwood lead the inning off with a walk followed by a double from Alayna Crutchfield. Jordan Wilson worked a 3-2 walk to load the bases up for freshman Syerra Palmer who singled to the left side to score 1. After a pop out Cameron Hodges came up and drew a bases loaded walk to make it 2-1. Kennedy Stephens then plated Jordan Wilson on a sac fly. After a pass ball scored Palmer, Makenzie Pugh delivered a triple to score Cameron Hodges which ended the scoring in the inning making it 5-1 Heritage. After a couple of errors in the bottom of the 6th scored 2 runs for Locust Grove, Cameron Hodges came in to earn the save in the bottom of the 7th giving Heritage the win. Pugh was 3-4 with a triple while Crutchfield was 2-3 with a double. Palmer and Shaniah Moore both added hits to pace the offense for Heritage. Stephens got the win on the mound going 6 strong innings with the lone earned run, while Hodges earned the save in 1 inning of work.
